Gratitude

Today I just want to touch a little bit on Gratitude….

Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive.

It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given.

Gratitude shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present.

Breaking the word down a bit further thanks to the ever-convenient Dictionary, gratitude means:

  • an appreciative attitude for what one has received
  • a warm or deep appreciation of personal kindness
  • a disposition to express gratefulness by giving thanks

I tend to like all three of these definitions for different reasons. I think gratitude also relates to a full life spent in awareness of all the good things that surround us.

Recent studies of Behavioural and psychological research has shown us that surprising life improvements can stem from the practice of gratitude. Giving thanks makes people happier and more resilient, it strengthens relationships, it improves health, and it reduces stress.

Now I know what you’re thinking…..

We can’t possibly control everything that is going on around us in the world???? BUT what we can do….  is certainly control ourselves and how we perceive what’s going on.

I believe that one of the key parts of our lifestyles is gratitude, the habit of practicing gratefulness.

To me gratitude means to…

  • feel better instantly
  • enjoy supportive, exciting relationships
  • increasing your prosperity and abundance
  • experiencing vibrant health
  • knowing peace of mind
  • supercharging your creative juices
  • magnetizing the realization of your dreams
    and goals
  • making a profound difference in the lives
    of many people

You may not know this yet, but as you get into the whole gratitude thing…really getting in deep into the heart of Gratitude – your life will radically change as you begin perceiving Gratitude in all things.

If you spend time every day expressing gratitude in a way that is meaningful to you, it will quickly become a big part of your life.

Like any habit, the more we practice it, the more natural it becomes. We must purposefully create of life of gratitude if we want to be fully alive.

Once you become oriented toward looking for things to be grateful for, you will find that you begin to appreciate simple pleasures and things that you previously took for granted. Gratitude should not be just a reaction to getting what you want, but an all-the-time gratitude, the kind where you notice the little things and where you constantly look for the good even in unpleasant situations. Today, start bringing gratitude to your experiences, instead of waiting for a positive experience in order to feel grateful; in this way, you’ll be on your way toward becoming a master of gratitude.

One of the best things you can do is work on developing an attitude of gratitude… as this can attract and manifest the things that you desire into your life.

I would like to finish off with a great quote by Frank Clark…. he says

‘If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get.’
